Dypsy! The Purrr-ody Musical to be presented as Work in Progress in London

One of the world’s most talked about true crime cases, as you’ve never seen it before.

Inspired by acclaimed parodies Titanique and Oh, Mary!, Dypsy! The Purrr-ody musical takes a look at the famous true crime story through the eyes of Gypsy-Rose Blanchard’s two feline companions Boo Boo and Moo Moo in a darkly comical new one man musical presented by Parkinson Philips Productions.

Written, created and performed by Samuel Parkinson-Philips,  with Dypsy! audiences will be introduced by Dypsy-Nose Chanchard, her overbearing controlling mother Greedy Chanchard and her secret online love interest John Go-To-Nick as the musical explores manipulation and suspected fabricated illness combining with theatrical absurdity, camp chaos and songs inspired by musical theatre classics written by Rachel Blaquière.

Parkinson-Philips, recipient of the West End Wilma ‘Rising Star’ Award, explains:“Everyone thinks they know this story, but no one has ever asked the cats. After completing an intensive course in feline telepathy and communication, I’m thrilled to finally give Moo Moo & Boo Boo the platform they deserve to tell their side of the story with a unique feline twist! The response since announcing the show has shown just how fascinated people remain by this story so we thought it was about time the cats had their say. We knew simply retelling the story wasn’t enough we had to find an entirely original perspective. By blending musical theatre, true crime and outright theatrical absurdity, we’re

creating something that we hope feels completely unexpected. If audiences leave both laughing and reflecting, then we’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do.”

Dypsy! The Purrr-ody Musical is the debut production for Parkinson Philips Productions, a new company committed to creating comedic, boundary pushing productions that offer comedy, escapism and joy whilst playing with both new and familiar stories.  The first of a series of public work in progress presentations will take place at the Etcetera Theatre Camden on Sunday 29th November at 2pm with a limited number of tickets on sale now.
