BAFTA Nominations announced.

Movie musical adaptations for West Side Story and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie have picked up BAFTA Nominations this week.

West Side Story picked up five nominations including nods for Ariana DeBose and Mike Faust, with Everybody’s Talking about Jamie is shortlisted in the Best British Film category alongside the screen version of Cyrano.

Whilst Lin Manual Miranda’s Disney hit Encanto is up for Best Animated Feature, his other movie musical Tick Tick Boom, starring Andrew Garfield was notably absent from any nominations.

The winners will be revealed on 13 March.

Casting announced for Anything Goes

Casting has been announced for this years revival of Anything Goes, which is set to tour and enjoy a residency at the Barbican.

Kerry Ellis will play the role of Reno Sweeney with Denis Lawson as Moonface Martin, Simon Callow as Elisha Whitney and Bonnie Langford as Evangeline Harcourt. Samuel Edwards, Carly Mercedes Dyer, Nicole-Lily Baisden and Haydn Oakley will also star.

The tour will open in Bristol on April 11 before visiting Liverpool, Edinburgh, Canterbury and Manchester before its London run from 15 July to 3 September

Casting for Grease announced

Casting has been announced for the West End run of Grease which begins performances at the Dominion Theatre in May

Dan Partridge and Olivia Moore will play the roles of Danny and Sandy with Jocasta Almgill as Rizzo, Paul French as Kenickie, Mary Moore as Jan, Jake Reynolds as Doody, Lizzy-Rose Edin-Kelly as Marty, Damon Gould as Sonny, Eloise Davis as Frenchie, Jessica Croll as Patty Simcox and Katie Lee as Cha Cha. Ronan Burns will play Johnny Casino and Corinna Powlesland will play Miss Lynch.

Peter Andre will make his west end debut as Vince Fontaine at certain performances with Darren Bennett playing the roles of Fontaine and Officer Mailie at certain performances.

The cast is completed by Jack Harrison-Cooper, Pearce Barron, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Ellie Kingdon, Remi Ferdinand, Kalisha Johnson, Imogen Bailey, Kevin O’Dwyer and Carly Miles.

Jason Manford to host Olivier Awards 2022

It has been announced that Jason Manford will host the Olivier Awards this year, with the event set to take place on April 10.

The event will have an increased focus on the climate emergency with the stars walking a green grass carpet and MasterCard pledging to plant a tree for every public ticket sold.

The cast taking part in the upcoming roles we’ll never play concert has been announced with the event taking place on March 7

The company includes Pearce Barron, Luke Bayer, Courtney Bowman, Maisey Bawden, Danny Becker, Mary-Jean Caldwell, Lauren Bryne, Kayla Carter, Ryan Carter, Tom Duern, Allie Daniel, Hiba Elchikhe, Jacob Fowler, Ahmed Hamed, Rebecca Gilliland, Idriss Cargo, Sophie Isaacs, Claudia Kariuki, Isaac Hesketh, Lemuel Knights, Sejal Keshwala, Renee Lamb, Christian Maynard, Kayleigh McKnight, Carl Mullaney, Billy Luke Nevers, Genevieve Nicole, Eve Norris, Natalie May Paris, Lauren Soley, Danielle Steers, Madison Swan, May Tether, Joaquin Pedro Valdes and Rodney Vubya.

They will be supported by Kyle Birch, Joe Churms, Sebastian Harwood, Samara Rawlins, Hannah Willars and Ella Williams.
