The news that has had theatre land talking this week includes...


My Fair Lady set to return to London


It has been announced that My Fair Lady is set to run at the London Coliseum next summer, in its first West End revival in 21 years.

The Lincoln Centre Theatre production of this classic musical will be presented by James L Nederlander, Jamie Wilson, Hunter Arnold, Playful Productions and ENO. It is set to open on 7 May 2022 for a limited engagement, casting is yet to be announced.

Grease to return to the West End

It has been confirmed that the much loved Grease is to return to the West End with a run at the Dominion theatre.

Directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by Arlene Phillips, the show is due to open on May 3 with casting to be announced in due course

Numbers announced for Strictly Come Dancing musicals week

Further details have been announced for this weekends musicals special of Strictly Come Dancing, including the musicals that the couples will be paying tribute too with their dances.

Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu will be performing a jive to Footloose from Footloose, with John Whaite and Johannes Radebe performing a Viennese waltz to Chim Chim Cher-ee from Mary Poppins.

Tilly Ramsey and Nikita Kuzmin will be performing their couples choice to Revolting Children from Matilda with Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden performing their couples choice to On My Own from Les Miserables, in which his sister Carrie Hope Fletcher has played the roles of Eponine and Fantine.

AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington will perform a waltz to Edelwiess from The Sound of Music, Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova will perform a Charleston to Good Morning from Singing in the Rain and Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice will perform a quickstep to Love is an Open Door from Frozen.

Anything Goes to return to the UK

The recent critically acclaimed revival of Anything Goeswill return to the Barbican in London next year, as well as touring across the UK.

The show will open at the Bristol Hippodrome on 11 April 2022 before visiting Liverpool, Edinburgh and Canterbury. The production will then run at the Barbican Theatre from 15 July to 3 September 2022.

Cynthia Erivo to guest Judge of Strictly Come Dancing

It has been announced that award winning singer and actor Cynthia Erivo will be a guest judge on this weekend’s musicals special of Strictly Come Dancing, standing in for Craig Revel Horwood who has tested positive for Covid-19

Erivo said: “I’m so delighted to be joining the Strictly judging panel for Musicals Week. Musicals have a unique place in my heart, it’s such a special way of connecting all art and making it one. I’m excited to bring my experience to the show and I can’t wait to see what the couples have in store this weekend.”
