The news that has had theatre land talking this week includes


Jonathan Bailey to play Fiyero in Wicked Movie


It has been announced that Jonathan Bailey, recently seen in Netflix hit Bridgerton, will play the role of Fiyero in the upcoming screen adaptation of Wicked.

Director Jon M Chu said on Twitter: “He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together. Born to be forever….. I am too excited to pretend this hasn’t been happening. We have a Fiyero!”

He will join Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, with further casting to be announced.

Take That musical Greatest Days to tour the UK

It has been announced that the Take That Musical Greatest Days is to tour the UK next year, after previously touring and running in the West End under the title The Band.

The new tour will open in Bromley in May before touring to Manchester, Newcastle, Woking, Sheffield, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Wolverhampton, Cheltenham, Blackpool, Glasgow, Bristol, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Southampton, Truro, Leeds, Leicester and Birmingham.

Temptations Musical Ain’t Too Proud to run in the West End

Ain’t Too Proud, which run on Broadway in 2019, is coming to the West End, it has been announced.

Telling the story of The Temptations, the musical won a Tony Award for best choreography and features hits such as ‘Papa was a rolling stone’ and ‘My Girl’

The show is set to open at the Prince Edward Theatre in March 2023

Mark Curry to return to Wicked

It has been revealed that Gary Wilmot will be leaving the west end production of Wicked, playing his final performance on 16 October.

Mark Curry, who previously played the role of the Wizard in 2016 and 2017 will be returning to the role, joining the show from 18 October.

Further cast revealed for Elf

It has been revealed the Tom Chambers will star as Walter Hobbs in Elf as it returns to the Dominion Theatre this coming festive season, joining Simon Lipkin as Buddy and Georgina Castle as Jovie.

Kim Ismay is set to play the role of Debs, with Nicholas Pound as Santa and Dermot Canavan as store manager.

The cast also includes Evonnee Bentley-Holder, Kyle Cox, Jade Davies, Bethan Downing, Francis Foreman, Morgan Gregory, Ryan Jupp, Ellis Linford-Pill, Shane O’Riordan, Theo Reece, Chloe Saunders, Heather Scott-Martin, Jessica Spalis, Michael Tyler, Katie Warsop and Natalie Woods.

Dexter Barry, Logan Clark, Alfie Morwood and Frankie Treadaway will alternate the role of Michael.

Further casting is to be revealed.
