National Theatre announces plans to stream shows to cinemas

The National Theatre have this week announced plans to stream a number of their productions into cinemas.

A captured performance of Tom Stoppard’s Leopolstadt will be screened in UK cinemas, plus some international locations on 27 January 2022, followed by a live broadcast of Phillip Pullman’s The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage on 17 February 2022.

The National’s new musical Hex, which stars Rosalie Craig and Tamsin Carroll will be broadcast on 17 March with the Donmar Warehouse production of Henry V starring Kit Harington on 21 April.

2:22 A Ghost Story to return to the West End

It has been announced that supernatural thriller 2:22 – A Ghost Story is to return to the West End later this year.

The show will play at the Gielgud Theatre for ten weeks from 4 December 2021, directed by Matthew Dunster.

A all new star cast for the run is to be announced.

Heathers to return to London once more

Following the news that the Other Palace Theatre has been purchased by Bill Kenwright, it has now been announced that Heathers will be the venue’s reopening production.

It previously run at the venue and in the west end in 2018, and enjoyed a run at the Theatre royal Haymarket this summer.

The show will run from 25 November to 20 February 2022, with casting to be announced.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole musical to be revived

It has been announced that the hit musical adaptation of Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 is to be revived next year

The show will run at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch with the production running from April 28 to May 21, with casting to be announced.

Wicked Movie moves to the UK and reschedules

It has been announced that the film adaptation of Wicked will be the first movie to be shot on the newly built Sky Studios stage in Elstree after plans to film in the US seemingly fell through.

The film was supposed to commence production in March but is now expected to begin in June. There are currently no news on a suspected release date as the project once again changes its plans.
